The bull does his business.

It’s important to understand a few simple truths if you want an accurate picture of what’s going on – at your expense – in your nation’s capital.

Here’s the first truth. Closed door meetings in Washington between presidents and lawmakers have been laced with gritty language since the dawn of the nation. (OK, let’s give George Washington a pass because, well, he’s George Washington.) But that’s about as far as it goes. Presidents like FDR, LBJ, JFK, Eisenhower, Truman, Nixon – go down the list – are all well-known for having turned the air blue in meetings at the White House.

And not just presidents. Lawmakers, too. Speaking before the Senate Homeland Security Committee earlier this week, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said,

I actually was struck more by the fact that the conversation, although passionate and appropriately so, had gotten to a place where many people in the room were using inappropriate language in the Oval Office…”

A bunch of Type A men in a room discussing a contentious issue using coarse language? Wow! Really? Who knew?

There is nothing particularly remarkable about President Trump calling Haiti a you-know-what-hole to make a point in a closed door meeting. (Haiti is a you-know-what-hole, as any intellectually honest observer knows.)

What’s remarkable is that a participant in that closed door meeting would go rushing out to talk about it. A closed-door meeting is just that – closed. If the participants can’t freely speak their minds, what’s the purpose of the meeting? There was a time in Washington when everyone – Republicans and Democrats – understood this.

As to Dick Durbin being unable to believe that any president has ever used such words in the White House, give us a break. Anybody who has been in Washington for more than 20 minutes knows better.

Here’s the second truth. Any Republican president who poses an honest question to the Democrat leadership in Congress – such as asking why we would want to import the social problems of a you-know-what-hole into our country – will be branded as a racist. Every time. When Democrats have no place to go in a debate, the pull out the race card. It’s as predictable as flies at a cookout.

On to the third truth. If a Democratic president dropped a vulgarity in a meeting in the White House, which many Democratic presidents have, Republican lawmakers at the meeting wouldn’t run out clutching their pearls to report it – the way Dick Durbin did – and the media wouldn’t do anything with the report anyway. When it comes to such things, the media has different standards for Republicans and Democrats. A Democrat who uses profanity is passionate and tough. A Republican using the same language is boorish and unhinged. Those are the rules.

Bottom line: the Democrat and media posturing that you’ve seen in connection with this story is, like almost all Democrat and media posturing, a total crock. It’s a particularly vivid example of the Washington, D.C. bull going number two.

Democrat Senator Dick Durban of Illinois, in my humble opinion, is NO friend of American voters & citizens who are seeking solutions, not the wanton political sowing of division by using a rhetorical shillelagh to bash our President, a president who is working in GOOD FAITH.
It is my hope, that the good people of Illinois will see the light and vote OUT Sen. Durbin and find a Republican who seeks that office, eager to work with our President in the U.S. Senate, to MAGA! As well, Illinois, is welcome to come over to R column in 2020 for Donald Trump, as have several other blue states, who see right thru the outrageous prevarications of “the left.”
Come home AMERICA, and leave the democrat gobbledygook in the dustbin of history.

I can just imagine what language the hildabeast would have used. Her mouth is as foul as they come!
Personally, I am tired of these sanctimonious idiots on BOTH sides of the isle. Really…WHO do they think they are fooling???

You Sir continue to amaze me. Morals continue to allude you. As soon as I think you’ve reached your lowest, you set a new standard. Your lack of shame in echoing Trumps vulgarity in calling an entire nation and it’s peoples a “shithole”, captures your true essence. This was supposed to be about DACA Dreamers but it was Trump that reshaped it all. I believe that you actually believe that your Right-winged status actually makes you right – about everyQ4F freaking no matter how deplorable. People from poor countries are not analogous with a lack of intelligence and ambition as are not people from poor homes or slavery. I’d suggest you remove you blinders and take a hard look at yourself in your cracked mirror disguised as reality in an effort to figure out exactly where you managed to get off track with your morals. Money is a powerful persuader while morals require decorum.

    • So laughable that the left is now out of the blue bothered by blue language. Sure is nice that Joenathan Carter and his ilk have at long last rediscovered “morality.” Not too long ago their version of the National Endowment for the Arts was funding such thing’s as Sirano’s “Piss Christ” and the “progressives” were telling the rest of us that if we didn’t like it, we should just look the other way. Regarding morality, the left abandoned the high ground decades ago, and sniping at Trump won’t get it back for them. As to their incessant playing of the race card–get a grip, Joenathan Carter. I wouldn’t have used the words attributed to President Trump to describe Haiti but that aside, the description is on target and NOT racist.

Buddy, Buddy, buddy, the clear point eludes you as well Sir. This is typically where I’d use a snide remark like, this is an A and B conversation, C (see) your way out of it but for the sake of civility (you do know what that is, I suppose?), I have elected to not stoop to your level. The flippantly way you use “laughable” when describing and discussing matters of such importance to “humanity” proves my point on morality indeed. It is both sickening and small mindedness, that you somehow believe that the right has or have ever had a corner on morality. To think that liberals or conservatives is the cornerstone of morality is simply ridiculous. And although I myself have a disdain for labels, I’d much rather be called a liberal than to be associated with such an obviously immoral man as your both fearless and idiotic leader. Also, note that I never pulled the “so-called” race card, but since YOU DID sir… There are, today (these times in which we live) so many people quick to speak on subjects for which they have little to no experience, that it befuddles me. But when it comes to racism, I am sure that is not the case with you. I am sure that your grandfather was tarred and featured, that your grandmother was not allowed to read, that your mother couldn’t afford to go beyond a 5th grade education because she had to work in the cotton fields, that your children and grandchildren had and in some cases, still have to attend lesser funded schools, that your communities have been redlined, that you sir have suffered police brutality and unprovoked death, that you never got know your grandfather because of a sick and fearful people, I could go on and on but I won’t. It’s time to stop with all of the divisive propaganda, there is and has always been a large segment of our society (America’s shameful history) that wouldn’t know morality (Jesus), if it walked up and slapped them in their face. I am, as a proud American, embarrassed that Mr Trump, our “shithole” of a president, happens to be one of those people.

  6. R. Eagleman says:

Does it not seem just a little hypocritical to whine about our president’s description of certain countries as S— holes, and then describe our president as an S—hole president? This tirade is so typical of the progressive mindset! Now let us address an important part of this IL-legal immigration issue: the unconstitutional order by our esteemed EX-president, which is named DACA. This would be the acronym for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals; a voter registration program for the Democrats disguised as a compassionate program for minors (average age now is 26 years), who came here IL-legally with their parent(s). An unbiased and reasonable person could describe this program as President Trump described the S—hole countries from where many of these DACA “kids” migrated. This unconstitutional program should have been titled Compassionate Action for Childhood Arrivals; then the acronym, CACA, would have been more descriptive! If this makes no sense, consult your Spanish dictionary.
