True hypocrite or just another hack playing the race card?

French author and Nobel laureate André Gid said;

“The true hypocrite is the one who ceases to perceive his deception; the one who lies with sincerity.”

That quote comes to mind in the wake of the just-completed NAACP convention at which organization president Benjamin Jealous successfully pushed a resolution calling upon the Tea Party to, in his words, “…repudiate racist acts and bigotry in their ranks or accept responsibility.”

Just to be clear. There is no Tea Party per se in the way that there is a Democratic Party or a Republican Party. There is no national Tea Party headquarters with an executive director, a board and a staff. The Tea Party is a purely organic movement. It exists as discrete groups of citizens within individual cities and communities who have banded together to express their concern at the direction in which the country is going. Forgetting for the moment the over-the-top hats and patriot garb worn by some members, in its spontaneity and in its sincerity, the Tea Party is as democratic a movement as we are likely to ever see in our lifetimes.

Since the passage of the resolution by the nation’s largest civil rights group at their convention earlier this week, I have seen NAACP apologists citing as undisputed fact that members of the Tea Party shouted racial epithets at black members of Congress as they walked to the capitol for a procedural vote on health care last March. They hold to this assertion despite the fact that even though there were dozens of news cameras at the scene together with Lord alone knows how many cell phone and amateur video cameras, not one frame of video and not one second of audio has been produced by anyone to support the charge.

NAACP president Benjamin Jealous said on CBS’s Meet the Press that signs have been held up at Tea Party rallies using the “N” word and calling for President Obama to be lynched. Again, even though countless professional news and amateur cameras are at virtually every Tea Party event, not one image has been produced to support the allegation.

Contrast this with the words of King Samir Shabazz, the New Black Panthers Party operative who actively intimidated voters in Philadelphia on election day in November 2008. (Click here to listen.)

“I hate white people. All of them. Every last iota of a cracker I hate him.”

“We keep begging white people for freedom. No wonder we’re not free. Your enemy cannot make you free, fool. You want freedom? You’re gonna have to kill some crackers. We gonna have to kill some of they [sic] babies.”

Now honestly Mr. Jealous, if unsubstantiated acts of racism and bigotry on the part of the Tea Party are deserving of your organization’s condemnation, then surely the very clear and undeniable act of racism and bigotry by this member of the New Black Panthers Party should be equally condemned. Yet, sir, you and the NAACP remain deafeningly silent.

NAACP stands for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. No one – black or white – advances, Mr. Jealous, by spewing racial bile.

Racism exists in every society on earth and it is vile in every instance and should be denounced in every instance.

Which brings us back to André Gid’s quote, Mr. Jealous. Are you a true hypocrite, having ceased to perceive your own deception? Or are you just another political hack playing the race card?

Ben is Jealous of the Tea Party… but seriously, the NAACP has pretty much become irrelevant.

    Mr. Gleiser,
I agree with your comments this morning, but I believe that your comments went right over their heads. The NAACP cannot understand reason with all of the hate that they carry. If a white man,in the Tea Party, had made the comments that the “King” had made, there would be an outcry of “see I told you so”. Is there or is there not a double standard when it comes to racism in this country?

All the naacp is doing is following the alinsky way. If you can’t fight with facts, demonize! There have been no proof of racial slurs from the tea party people. If there were, someone would be a millionaire today because Andrew Brightbart has offered one million dollars to the person who can show proof of racial slurs being hurled. So far, no one has collected. Since obama has taken office, the race card has been well used. This is just another example.

I believe that the term “racism” has been corrupted by most left wing organizations such as the NAACP and the Democrat Party (DP).

Doesn’t at least 90% of the black voting population in the US consistently vote for left wing candidates that purport to decry “racism” in the conservative voting population? Doesn’t the DP and its lock on the NAACP as a representative organization of the black population playing “group politics”, maybe even “racism”, by favoring the black race at the expense of non-blacks? Isn’t the left wing NAACP and the DP (by charging conservative organizations such as the Tea Party with “racism”, where none exists) practicing “racism” itself by spreading the lie that a conservative, mostly non-black organization, is racist (including the remainder of the 90% black population that doesn’t support the left)?

The DP and the NAACP has become so left wing that “reparations” for black-only slavery that ended over 140 years ago in the US are now being discussed as a way of punishing the non-black population.

A great definition of RACISM is found at the following link:
    wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=racism
    1. the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races
    2. discriminatory or abusive behavior towards members of another race

In summary, the left and especially the NAACP screams “racism” to cover up its own racism by accusing conservatives and the TEA Party with prejudice based on race, which the NAACP itself practices. Furthermore, the black-left perpetuates the BIG LIE that it is immune from racism since it is intrinsically superior to members of (mostly non-black) conservative groups because conservatives don’t support the black-left agenda to force equal outcome in a still-free, non-Socialist society.

One more thing, at what point are all of us partial slaves when the federal government ignores the Constitution and takes over and selectively punishes private industries (that are politically incorrect, owned by us) and forces all of us to pay an increasingly large portion of our finite personal labor in taxes to support the left’s agenda (without representation in a Congress that doesn’t read bills that are passed into law)?

I grew up in Alabama in the 60’s as a teen.
I was raised in a home of bigots. I left home at 17 and found that war make good bed fellows
I lost my bigotre and found Texas at my mid 20’s
I call my self a Godly man and a beliver. But after all that has taken place in Texas with illegals and gov. not following the law and with the up rise of some black americans (naacp)& (black panthers) I have found myself almost like it was back in Alabama. A bigot God help me and this country. Thanks Mr. G your brother Paul P

I would like to correct myself on the Breitbart money offered. I got too many zero’s…it was one hundred thousand dollars offered to anyone who could come up with PROOF of racial slurs being hurled at the Tea Party events.

I have had enough of the division that both sides, who claim to be liberals or conservatives, try to force on this great society just to make more money. I have great love, respect, and appreciation for our first amendment, but not for purposeful deception.
It seems like some groups never waste a chance to plant hate and islamophobia in the hearts and minds of true good hearted patriotic Americans.
My wife and I are blessed with four children ages 1 through 14 and East Texas is our home. As many other Muslim families in East Texas we are a proud part of the fabric of the American Society.
Muslim families have great records of true socially and conservative values. However, self proclaimed conservative sources keep spreading sugar coated poison when it gets to our faith.
We as a society are being told of the danger of ‘Sharia’ law eventhough I am neither aware of any Muslim country that applies Sharia law nor aware of any Muslim organization that is advocating the implementation of Sharia law in the US. The US is ruled by our law and Muslims are encouraged to obey the law of wherever they live and to abide by it.
Muslims like any other faith have people who claim to be true adherents to it but don’t represent it. All of Islam is being put on trial for the act of such people. Other religions have had the same issue. Many racist groups, the Nazi group comes to mind, claimed to be Christians and had cordial relationship with the US government, both Republicans and Democrats, as well as the Vatican but the Christian faith was not put on trial because of that. Keep in mind that endless numbers of innocent civilians perished because of their misunderstanding of Christianity. There has been many people apprehended in the US for spying for ‘our friend Israel’ but the Jewish faith was not put on trial because of their actions.
Why aren’t Palestinian Christians being interviewed to talk about the Israeli hegemony against both Christians and Muslims.
We have had enough hypocrisy in the name of Democracy and patriotism while the real purpose is deceit and advertisement dollars.
Let me thank Paul Gleiser for providing this forum for free speech and finally let me reiterate my love for the US, my country, with its first amendment, the constitution, and its rule of law applied to all regardless of their race, sex, religion, or national origin.

I would invite Sam to read the article “Top ten reasons why sharia is bad for all societies” at the following link.
    http://www.americanthinker.com/2005/08/top_ten_reasons_why_sharia_is.html
Please note the lack of personal liberties and horrific punishment given the Islamic Law that permeates the Muslim world. This is not debatable.

The USA does not have a State sponsored and enforced religion as have many other countries in the world, including those in western European, South America, and Asia. We have “freedom of religion” as specified in the Bill of Rights. In fact, the government is prohibited from interfering with the free exercise thereof.

Sam, don’t the vast majority of countries classified as Muslim practice NO “freedom of religion” as our Bill of Rights specifies? In fact, don’t most Muslim countries have a State enforced religion of Islam (in whatever form) as is illustrated at the following link?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_religion

My point is that most Muslim countries do not practice fundamental tolerance of “religious freedom” as we do in this country. This is why most Americans fear the Muslim/Islam influence of “anti-religious freedom” that these cultures practice and do not want it to creep into this country in any form. We also don’t want the laws of these Muslim countries based on Islam to have any influence on our laws. This is not based on bigotry but is based on our vigilance to protect the “American way of life”. Freedom is not free. For example, there are plenty of non-Muslim forces (Socialist-Marxist) that have successfully eroded our personal (economic and religious) freedoms in the last 75 years, particularly the current Congress and the Obama Administration.

Our country was founded using Judeo-Christian principles that have directly led to formation of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution as we know it. We are NOT a democracy where the majority rules (such as a majority religion population that might exist). We are a representative Republic where the Constitution rules except where amended. This illustrates the brilliance of the Founders of this country which is extremely rare in the history of mankind and in the formation of nations since civilization began. I am sorry that this vigilance to defend our freedoms is classified by you as “hypocrisy in the name of Democracy and patriotism while the real purpose is deceit and advertisement dollars.” Please don’t confuse debate with deceit.
