The debt: It’s time for leadership.

Ten years ago, in 2001, the existential threat facing the United States was radical Islamic terrorism. Say what you will about President George W. Bush, no one can credibly argue that he failed to address the threat. In fact, the bulk of the criticism leveled at President Bush stemmed directly from the actions that he took to address terrorism.

Today, a decade later, terrorism remains a threat but it’s no longer the biggest threat. Economic apocalypse is what most seriously threatens America today. Our national debt, fifteen trillion dollars, now exceeds the entire economic output of the country. We are borrowing more than 40 cents of every dollar we spend and budget deficits of over a trillion dollars stretch out as far as the eye can see.

Left unchecked, we will one day suffer an economic collapse that could destroy the very social order. In the face of this threat, President Obama has proposed a budget for fiscal year 2012 that is appalingly unserious. The president’s first duty is to protect the citizens. And fiscal collapse will destroy the country just as surely as the most devastating terrorist attack.

This is the time for leadership, Mr. President. And the time is short.

SC Senator Wants State To Print Money
    Lee Bright Proposes Bill
    POSTED: 6:44 am EST February 15, 2011
    UPDATED: 7:16 am EST February 15, 2011

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A state senator from Roebuck believes that South Carolina should decide on whether to issue its own currency.

Republican Lee Bright is calling for a subcommittee to study whether such a currency could protect the financial stability of the state.

He told the Spartanburg Herald-Journal that South Carolina could use its own money if people lose faith in the dollar.

Bright’s legislation said the Federal Reserve System is at risk from hyperinflation.

It stated the new currency would be made of gold or silver or both.

Democrats said the legislation is a waste of time.

Why do you think there are so many ads in the paper to buy gold?? It’s because the smart prople are buying–NOT selling gold & precious metals. This guy in S.C. has the right idea!!

I disagree, I think terrorism is still the biggest threat. If not, let’s get out of Iraq and Afghanistan tomorrow. I have no problems with Bush going there, my problems with him would be his incease in spending on Medicaid/ Medicare, his failure to veto a spending bill and his bailout of wall street banks. Bush was not fiscally responsible.

If you are looking to obama for leadership, sorry to disappoint you. obama is NOT a leader in any way, shape or form. This little speech he made about reducing the debt was nothing more than posturing. His words are empty, void of meaning.

This past November, we, the people spoke out for change to be made by making the election of 2010 historic. We listened to the speeches being made with care and made our choices. When taking the gavel from Nancy Pelosi, the new Speaker Boehner made a speech telling us what they were going to do. Number one, keep the election promises they made. Well, now that the tough choices need to be made, they are so far, falling short of their promises. It seems we have no leaders in either party.

To save this Country, some very tough choices need to be made. It is never easy facing an addiction and trying to over come it. The truth of the matter is that we are an addicted Country. We are addicted to “entitlements”. The truth is, this Country owes none of us anything but the promise of freedom to do for ourselves. It is time we faced this most damaging of addictions and do something about it. Our addiction to comfort has made us soft. Our addiction to food has made us fat. Our addiction to instant gratification has made us greedy and the list goes on and on. It is time we break our addictions. Doing the right thing isn’t easy and never has been, but we CAN do it…we MUST do it. There is too much at stake to ignore it.

I am sick of people blaming Obama for a problem he did not create. He did not start a war, he didn’t give tax breaks to oil companies when they made billions last year. The only reason why people attack him is because he is black he does not have a magic wand to wave and make everything better. I hope he doesn’t run again next year I hope u get a republican then who are you going to attack? Oh yeah that’s right you will just go back to blaming Hispanics and poor black people on welfare for all of united states problems. Wake up the country is bankrupted because of greed from your favorite person George W Bush.

  5. Mr Wideman says:

Why is everybody so against Obama..did they not forget that if it wasnt for bush we wouldnt be in the sitution in….just like bush thought he was doing what was good for the country…Obama is doing what he think is good for our country….i would hate to think that all the bad talk is because he black cause if you didnt knw he is 50% white….and every night you got something to say about Obama why dont you try to run for president and see if you make since you know some dam much

  6. E Josephs says:

Mr. Wideman, there are two types of people in the world, those who whine and complain about problems and those who fix them. Obama is a whiner, he took a mess, and Bush (who I did not care for) gave us a fiscal mess, and Obama made it worse, whining and blaming and pouting the whole time.

The governor of Wisconsin is someone who fixes problems. Instead of blaming the Democratic Governor before him, who left a $ 3.6 billion shortfall in the budget, Governor Walker is trying to fix it. He is leading by actions. Obama leads by… well, Obama has yet to shown that he is a leader. It is refreshing to see a leader like Gov. Walker of Wisconsin.

As for your last question about running for president, I don’t want the pay cut.

The Debt is a creation of the Federal Reserve Bank which is just as Federal as Federal Express! It’s a private banking cartel that created the 1st Great Depression and along with the IMF are bound and determined to turn this country into another 3rd world country like they have been doing to other countries for decades. Can’t have a world government with a Superpower in the way. Wake up folks. The president has nothing to do with the economy. Go watch the youtube video of Allen Greenspan-former Fed Chairman talking about how they are above the law and they answer to No ONE! Not you, not me, not any freaking president, congress, etc. The Constitution states that Congress/Treasury is to be in issuance of this countries currency. Wilson sold this country out in 1913 with the Federal Reserve Act. They kill Kennedy because he was about to sign legislation to return the power of currency back to the government where it belongs. Wake up. Do your research and don’t believe anything I said. You also might want to check out: InfoWars.com . You won’t believe what you see there which is good, but if you do your research you’ll find that, that man is about 97% correct on everything he covers. But no, you have better things to do, watch football, basketball, baseball, until another 9/11 happens which by the way was a Rockefeller scam (Inside Job) to scare you into giving up your rights as stated in the constitution, and turn you into a slave. al-Qaeda is a made up boogie man to scare you. This country will never fall from the outside,,,, just the inside. “A house divided will not stand”-Jesus Christ. The President is just a puppet position for you to fire your anger at. There is no Left or Right, it’s WWF wrestling–A SHOW to keep us fighting amongst ourself instead of being United (Remember the United States of America?). Look behind the vail! United we Stand,,,Divided we Fall. Check out Ron Paul. The man has been talking about this issue for over 30 years now. There is video proof of this: from 30 years ago.
