Hillary Clinton’s sensibilities.

Hillary Clinton’s memoir, bearing the title “What Happened,” is now on sale and excepts are being released to the media. For a mere $18, you can read, in Mrs. Clinton’s own words, as she tells of her experiences as the Democratic Party’s 2016 nominee for president. (If you have the stomach, you can actually listen to Mrs. Clinton read the book to you for free if you sign up for a free trial of Amazon’s Audible service.)

I doubt that I’ll read the book and there is precisely zero chance that I will listen while Hillary reads it to me. So, my judgment of the book is confined to my reaction to the excerpts released to the media.

In one such excerpt Mrs. Clinton recalls the experience of standing next to Donald Trump on the debate stage during the campaign. “My skin crawled,” she says. She goes on to describe choosing between “biting my tongue, digging my finger nails into a clenched fist,” or saying to Trump, “…back up you creep. Get away from me.”

It is interesting that Mrs. Clinton is so sensitive, especially when you consider the things in her past that did not make her skin crawl. A partial (emphasis on partial) recap follows.

During the campaign, Mrs. Clinton took Donald Trump to task for the boorish things he said about women on a hot mic while with Billy Bush on the set of “Access Hollywood.” She also said that when it comes to a woman claiming sexual assault, “You have the right to be heard. You have the right to be believed.”

That is unless your name is Juanita Broaddrick and you are describing being raped by Mrs. Clinton’s husband, Bill. Broaddrick’s recollection of that alleged incident was so compelling that NBC, historically and nominally a Clinton supporter, couldn’t resist airing the interview.

Yet Hillary’s skin apparently didn’t crawl. She instead, by numerous credible reports, set about intimidating and threatening Juanita Broaddrick.

It similarly did not seem to bother Hillary when she learned that Bill had inserted a cigar into the nether regions of Monica Lewinski. (That actually makes my skin crawl.) She instead attacked Ms. Lewinski, calling her, among other things, a “narcissistic loony toon.”

Apparently none of Bill’s sexual indiscretions gave Hillary the creeps. In fact, she lumped all of Bill’s women into a group that she derisively labeled as, “Bill’s rodeo queens.”

The same Hillary Clinton whose sensibilities were assaulted by the mere physical presence of Donald Trump didn’t seem at all uncomfortable lying to the families of the personnel who died on her watch at the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya. She did so even as the coffins of those dead loved ones were being unloaded. Talk about cynicism.

Alas, time and space impose their limits so let’s just leave it at this.

If you voted for Donald Trump and are now experiencing even the teensiest bit of buyer’s remorse, take a moment to consider who you would have gotten instead.

    Excellent, excellent observation!
Hillbillery in the White House would have been catastrophic.

  2. Philip says:

When I watch Hillary Clinton I see one of the most self loving people that I have ever seen. Couple that with her lust for political clout and her criminal past, I may well have left the country had she been elected President.

  3. Buyer’s remorse over voting for Donald Trump? No way! Rich said it right and in a clever way, Hillbillery in the White House would have been catastrophic. Appreciate the excellent column!

  4. Brendan says:

I admit that hillary would have been a disaster, but is it so hard to acknowledge the tragedy that out of 300 million people, those two clowns were the final applications for the hardest job on earth?

  5. Brendan says:

    Applicants, rather.

  6. John says:

    Your comments are spot on!

    Well done sir as always!

Casting my vote for then private citizen Donald J. Trump was the easiest political decision as an American who loves our Constitutional Republic that I have ever done. Looking forward to casting my ballot again for President Trump in 2020 without reservation.

In regards to our local U.S. Representative, Congressman Louie Gohmert, he is doing a fine job as well and I have supported him since the beginning of his time in Congress and he will continue to receive my support without reservation. Couldn’t be prouder of the work he is doing [just like President Trump] for We The People to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

  8. Who won the pool?
“Benghazi” didn’t come until word #439.

    • Paul Gleiser says:

Yes, do all you can to ridicule and diminish the word, “Benghazi.” Perhaps it might work in some quarters to deflect attention from Mrs. Clinton’s gross dereliction of her duty to protect those under her command. Perhaps such attempts at marginalizing the incident might also deflect attention from Mrs. Clinton’s deliberate and toweringly cynical attempts at deception in the wake of her own failure. As much as you might like to believe that the Benghazi incident doesn’t matter, to those who feel a keen duty to be accountable to the people who serve under us, it represents a window into a massive failure of character. And it serves as a real-life reason that we are glad that she is not now the Commander-in-Chief.

      • Hey YOU interjected the unrelated — and long-debunked — Benghazi mantra here.

Back to the topic you veered-off: I’ll leave it to y’all who reckon that uncouth-is-now-cool to rationalize The Billy Bush Tape to wives, daughters, and granddaughters.

      • Brendan says:

Fair enough, but how many deferments can I take before I’m deemed unpatriotic? Or is decided to be a failure of character? 4 maybe?

  9. MKENNEY says:

Yea, but it is okay for the so called P0TUS to “GRAB THEM BY THE PUSSY”, when you are a star they will let YOU do anything, and he was “married” at the time. HIS illegal wife is so miserable, have you noticed how many time she has pulled her hand away from his when he reaches for it,,.she is disgusted by the thought of holding the hand that “GRABS WOMEN BY THE PUSSY” YES HE IS A CREEP, AND HE IS CREEPY AND IF YOU LIKE HIM THAT MAKES YOU ONE TOO. By the way no matter what you think of the excerpts, I am sure the Clintons are laughing all the way to the bank, not that they need the money, but at least they pay taxes and give to charities, unlike the Donald dog Tramp.

Which person cherishes our nation as Founded as One Nation Under GOD, a Constitutional Republic, established in FREEDOM, “Of, By, and For The People?”

      DONALD J. TRUMP.

President Trump kept his word and nominated now U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. Justice Gorsuch cherishes The Constitution of The United States. He also cherishes the FIRST AMENDMENT, the SECOND AMENDMENT, and the rest of The Bill of Rights as stated…that they are FOR ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS, FOR ALL TIME.

God Bless President Trump and The United States of America!

  10. Linda E Montrose says:

Think that the hildabeast goes beyond being a narcissist to the regions of psychopathy. She says things to gain sympathy, yet she is incapable of giving or feeling it. What she says is carefully calculated to put her in the best light possible and everyone else in the worst light possible. Both of the clintons have no problem in destroying other people’s lives as one can see from the long line of people whom they have destroyed in one way or the other. When I can stand to look at the hildabeast, all I see is pure evil. She is cold and calculating in everything she does or says. One only has to look up the definition of “psychopath” to see that the traits fit her to a “tee”. These people are master manipulators and use anyway possible to get their way. When they don’t there is hell to pay…covertly of course. We ALL should thank our lucky stars that she did not get into the Whitehouse again. We have someone in there now that can make a HUGE difference if only the left would grow up and LET PRESIDENT TRUMP DO HIS JOB!

    • Do you refer to “the left” in the Republican-controlled Senate?
      Or the Republican-controlled House?

    • Brendan says:

Please Miss Montrose, you must by now be aware that the left by itself cannot be held to blame for your beloved Trumps failure to get bills passed. It’s a republican congress and president.

  11. Jim says:

I suppressed my gag reflex and voted for Trump, knowing the certain disaster a Hillary presidency would be. Unfortunately I still experience a gag reflex every time Trump tweets or speaks off the cuff. Thank you Hillary for writing your book and reminding us that it’s worth putting up with a buffoon in the White House to avoid the tragedy you would have imposed on the country.
