Democrats and their codependents in the media have never respected Republicans – particularly those aspiring to the presidency. And by never, I mean not in the past 30 years or so. As an example, there’s George W. Bush, who was treated horribly by the Democrat-Media Complex (for purposes of this article and future ones now known simply as the “DMC.”)

But even so, the DMC recognized that they were occasionally going to have to put up with one and they recognized that even if a Republican won the presidency on promises of smaller government, the resulting “damage” was generally limited in nature and government continued to grow and the regulatory state continued to expand – even if momentarily at a slower rate.

Expansion of government has been important to Democrats. Truth be told, it has been important to Republicans, too – their own rhetoric notwithstanding. For as government expands, the power of those working within it expands, too. With that expansion comes the ability to reward those in favor and punish those out of favor.

Thus, a closed loop including executive branch agencies, businesses impacted by those agencies, interest groups impacted by the resulting polices, together with the media that lubricated the entire process, was formed.

Which meant that getting a high-ranking position in the executive branch – even if only for a couple of years in a single administration – became the golden ticket. As the reach and power of government expanded, so, too, did the value of having worked in it. A position of power in a presidential administration unlocked lucrative post-government employment, consulting work, book deals, regular contributor positions on the cable networks, high-paying speaking gigs and more.

Which meant that public service devolved and morphed into self service.

And everyone was in on it, and everyone was careful to not screw it up.

And then along came Donald Trump.

He wasn’t in on it and was in fact already loudly calling it all out. Many of you may remember that for a couple of years before he ran the first time, he had a standing Monday morning appearance by telephone on FOX & Friends. He called out the abuses by the permanent bureaucracy, the Democrats and the RINO-Republicans (of which there were many at the time). He called out China – from whom many of the above were profiting handsomely.

He had to be stopped. Which explains why Democrats and the media (and not a few Republicans) went to such extraordinary lengths to destroy him.

Now, thanks to what Attorney General Pam Bondi is revealing, we’re finding out just how extraordinary those efforts were, and the sight is appalling.

To be fair, Donald Trump didn’t help himself in his first term. His frequent episodes of intemperate speech and gross exaggeration hurt him. But this more disciplined Donald Trump is just what is needed.

To the great dismay of establishment Washington, a long overdue, fundamental overhaul of the relationship between the federal government and We the People is happening before our eyes.

Not a second too soon.

Once again, Mr. Gleiser, your commentary is right on target. One of the biggest challenges for the DMC and the entrenched bureaucrats in Washington is that President Trump was not indebted to any of them for his election. As an outsider, he represented a threat to their established ways of doing business, both figuratively and literally. Though long overdue, it’s encouraging to watch so many of our nation’s leaders support the Trump agenda, one which prioritizes the needs and success of the American people, However, there remains this incredibly important issue of public and legal accountability for staging lawfare against a sitting president. When will justice be served? . . . “and justice for all.” For the sake of our republic, may the truth prevail – and not behind closed doors.

Right on point as always Paul

This is NOT the UNITED STATES of America anymore! The democraps have made sure of that. Mostly the dems are making it all about themselves and NOT the AMERICAN CITIZENS. Just look at piglosi and the other hogs in the democratic party. It is all about making themselves rich. Look at how they howled and screamed at doge findings. Oh the Republicans are trying to enrich themselves! No, they were howling because they were afraid of the American people finding out just how WE HAVE BEEN SCAMMED! The problem is when something IS uncovered absolutely NOTHING is done about it and everything goes back to the way it was. Until people in power are held accountable, the AMERICAN people are going to have to continue to suffer for what the “elected” elite are doing and HAVE been doing for decades! The corruption in our government is astonishing and NO ONE is actually DOING anything about it. Until those we have elected and put our trust in actually does something besides enriching themselves and growing OLD in office, this country is done for!

On point, Paul. However, Trump still needs to quit the childish name-calling. It’s needlessly obnoxious.

“And then along came Donald Trump.” and it has made all the difference, and thank God. Paul, yet again you are on target!
