Incoherent.

While Gulf of Mexico oil production remains largely shut in following last year’s BP well blowout, President Obama said this to Brazilian business leaders last week in Brasilia regarding recently discovered oil reserves off the coast of Brazil.

We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.”

So let’s understand this. We want to help Brazil develop offshore oil and then buy it from them, apparently unconcerned about potential damage they might inflict on the environment.

Meanwhile, out of concern for the environment, we keep American Gulf Coast oil workers on unemployment and American oil off the market.

While Obama was in South America, we started a shooting war in Libya. We wouldn’t give Libya a second thought if it didn’t produce oil.

Incoherent.

That’s the only word that works with respect to American energy policy. It’s costing money we don’t have and will soon again cost American lives.

Unfortunately, this was decided by a bipartisan committee back in the Geo Bush days. I will say however, Obama dumped on our oil producers with his “we will buy your oil” comment.
