Entitlement is just a politician word for dependency.

A few weeks ago, Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, proposed a fiscal year 2012 budget that for the first time actually addresses the massive share of the federal budget that has come to be called “entitlements.”

The howling from congressional Democrats and liberal pundits began immediately. Using the same tired, shopworn cliches that they have used for decades, these liberals began saying that school kids will go without lunches and that old people will be forced from their homes while being denied the medicine they need.

Don’t be fooled.

Democrats are not concerned with school kids and old people. They are concerned with votes. And entitlement is a fancy word for dependency and dependency has proved to be a reliable way to ensure those votes.

The more you convince people to take goodies from the government rather than provide for themselves, the more votes you can count on come election day.

The real problem facing Democrats is that the checkbook from which these goodies are paid for is now seriously overdrawn. Thus their tone of desperation.

It’s very nearly impossible to starve to death in America. But it is still quite possible to go broke. It’s Paul Ryan to whom we should listen. Not shrieking Democrats.

ENTITLEMENTS are those programs a person has contributed to and has an expectation of a return (LIFE INS, SOCIAL SECURITY if they actually worked 40 quartrs or 10 years, MEDICARE – again if they actually worked and contributed) FOOD STAMPS, MEDICAID, WIC, WIN, and any program you have NOT contributed to are WELFARE giveaways designed to get politicians re-elected (they exempt their staff from paying back student loans and exempt themselves from most of the laws they pass) and now government wants to ban smoking from EVERYWHERE – if you give up little rights for comfort, soon you will have not rights left and obama wants executive order to grant AMNESTY and other uses that by-pass selfserving congress and the CONSTITUTION –

Entitlements are just politican speak for “you OWE me your vote” because when you take welfare, medicade, wic or whatever, it isn’t FREE! You are beholden to the government for as long as you take their handouts.

Here is a little story about how government encroaches in on your life when you sign up for something through them. My husband’s father signed up for an agriculture program back either during the depression or right after to help with his planting. Well, they told him how much he could plant and when. Then came out to check and see if he was adhering to their guidelines. He had measured off the allotted space for the cotton he was growing and they came out and told him he was a couple of feet over the limit. He plowed up the whole mess and vowed to NEVER sign up ever again for anything the government had to offer! And he didn’t. This is typical of how the government “helps” people. You sign up for one of their programs and you pretty much give up your freedom and your rights. NOTHING the government offers you is FREE, there is ALWAYS a hefty price to pay and most of the time, you don’t realize the cost until it is too late. Like Reagan said…government isn’t the solution…government IS the problem.
