What would you do?

What would you do if you were in Governor Greg Abbott’s shoes? I ask because of an encounter I had with a woman in New Hampshire this past Tuesday. I was outside a voting location in Manchester collecting interviews for our coverage of the New Hampshire primary.

I asked as she was leaving the polling place if she would talk on camera to the folks in Texas. She made a face and said, “Eewww, Texas.” I smiled and said, “Oh, my goodness, why the face about Texas?,” and she said, “Your governor is a racist.” (Some of the voters who would talk to us can be seen here.)

I’m going to guess that she called Greg Abbott a racist for two reasons. One, he’s famously taking a firm stand against the tidal wave of illegal immigration washing over our border with Mexico because he obviously hates people with skin darker than his. That’s backed up by reason number two; any disagreement with a liberal on any subject at any time in any context for any reason is because of racism.

If not for illegal immigration, no one in New Hampshire would know Greg Abbott’s name. But he has locked horns with the Biden administration over this very contentious subject. At immediate issue is Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Eagle Pass is a town of about 28,000 that sits on the bank of the Rio Grande River. Across the river, 300 feet away, sits the city of Piedras Negras, Mexico. The city of Eagle Pass, together with its city park, are now a flash point in the illegal immigration crisis currently gripping the country.

In a letter Wednesday to the Biden administration, Governor Abbott said,

Under President Biden’s lawless border policies, more than six million illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border in just three years. That is more than the population of 33 different States in this country.”

Though it’s not military in nature, Texas is being invaded at Eagle Pass. Thousands cross the bridge and cross the river every day. The cost to the state and to local governments is both staggering and unsustainable.

Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution provides that the federal government must defend states against invasion. Article 2, Section 3 provides that the president shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed. Biden is doing neither.

So, Governor Abbott has taken matters into his own hands. He is putting the incoming hordes on busses and sending them to “sanctuary cities” (to the great chagrin of the liberals that run those cities). And he has put up concertina wire in Shelby Park.

The Biden administration is angry. Lawsuits have flown in both directions. Nice liberal ladies in New Hampshire now make faces when they hear the name ‘Texas.’

But I ask Biden and I ask my grimacing New Hampshire liberal lady, given a relentless flood of impoverished and unskilled illegal migrants in need of food, housing, clothing, and medical attention costing in the hundreds of millions of dollars, what would you do if you were in Gregg Abbott’s shoes?

Greg Abbott has brought the immigration issue to the front of the line this November, and the Democrats are in a state of panic over what to do next. In their rush to ensure one-party rule in perpetuity, they are losing support from the constituency they have built through lifelines thrown in the past. Now we have Democrats urging Biden to use military force to suppress the efforts of OUR ELECTED GOVERNOR to protect the people he serves. Is this really the hill the Democrats want to die on?

I am not a fan of Greg Abbott BUT he may be a lot of things but racist is NOT one of them. He is doing what any Governor worth his salt would do…protecting our borders!!! If you are wondering WHY 2020 turned out the way it did, just take a GOOD LOOK at the border! President Trump was trying to make our border secure and for the dems…that was a no no. I do not know how many of you have even LOOKED at our border and the people coming in but I suggest you do because the majority of people coming in ARE NOT asylum seekers! I even saw a video not too long ago where a YOUNG illegal was carrying a rifle. NOW why would he be carrying a rifle? The majority of people crossing show no signs of a FAMILY being with them. All I see are YOUNG military aged men. Now why do you suppose that??? OUR safety is the issue here. Do you think those people feel SAFE around Eagle Pass? I wouldn’t. We have immigration LAWS to allow people to come in LEGALLY! Let’s USE THEM!

Great article. I have never been prouder of any governor than I am of this governor because he is doing something nobody in the liberal media is doing, he’s exposing this administration to people like the lady you mention in your article. It’s amazing to me that when it comes to what is going on in our country, so many Americans are brain dead.

I spent four and half years frequently traveling all over New England; Boston and Acton, Massachusetts in particular. Found the people in Boston to be quite friendly and talkative unlike the people in the suburbs who were snobby and aloof. Fairly sure those in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are too disconnected and upity to give a rip about what is happening way down south. Martha’s Vinyard solved their issue rather quickly did they not?! Governor Abbott needs to start sending bus loads to the midsized cities in those states and give them a good dose of reality. They would respond aggressively and quickly like the Island folks did and ship them out to parts unknown. As Governor of Texas, that is one thing I would do; make certain those who have not shared in the glory of this invasion be conscripted and get their fair share of their Progressive Sanctuary City hypocrisy. I would have instructed the Attorney General to wage legal warfare on all Biden Cabinet members and Staff unrelentingly until this invasion stops. Filing lawsuits costs are insignificant compared to the costs of taking care of millions of illegals. Sue their pants and skirts off. Next, I would do all I could to exclude any and all Federal Democrats from Texas Voting Ballots; Hey, what is good for the goose is good for the gander! It is time to fight fire with fire. Let them eat their own cake as the Marquis de Sade would say. As Governor, the gloves would come off and the Great State of Texas would do all in it power to stop this madness and insanity, damn the Democratic communist. We might even fire up the oil field and Drill Baby Drill to stockpile our own resources for maybe a future Republic of Texas? Great Nations come and go do they not? At least Texas would be prepared for all contingencies.

I read a story today that just blows my mind. It shows a network of surveillance towers along the entire U.S/Mexico border. It has been paid for with government investments to billionaires to help border patrol “do their jobs”! The big question is what to do with the people the cameras can see. Republicans want to do one thing, Democrats want to do the opposite.

What would I do? Easy, lets start shipping these illegal aliens to Manchester, Concord and other Hew Hampshire cities. I hope Abbott absolutely FLOODS Chicago, Illinois during the Democrat convention. That would be great TV is you ask me!
