An increasing debt to the truth.

Former First Lady Jill Biden is on TV and out on the interview circuit promoting her book titled, “View from the East Wing: A Memoir.”
In the book and in interviews, she tells us that she was just gobsmacked by her husband’s shocking performance during his debate with Donald Trump last June. We all remember it. It was that debate at the CNN Studios in Atlanta on June 27, 2024 that brought Joe Biden’s reelection bid, along with his nearly five-decade career in politics, to an ignominious end.
In a CBS Sunday Morning interview that aired this week the former First Lady said that she was afraid that her husband – the President of the United States – was having a stroke. She went on to say, “I had never, ever seen Joe like that before or since.”
I have questions.
First, if you truly feared that your spouse was having a stroke, would you just sit there? It has been drilled into us – time is the enemy on strokes. If Jill Biden thought her husband was having a stroke, she should have taken immediate action to get him medical attention.
But we all know she didn’t think he was having a stroke. She thought it was Thursday. That is to say, she had, “…seen Joe like that before,” because we had all seen Joe like that before. We had all seen the shaking hands with invisible people, and his inability to exit a stage, and the garbled sentences, and the vacant stare and the inability to complete a thought.
That sets up my second question. Will the country ever get to a tipping point on being lied to? The HBO mini-series “Chernobyl,” has a great line that I have appropriated. A Soviet nuclear scientist says at a state inquiry on the disaster:
Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Eventually, that debt comes due.”
When will that happen in our politics? Politicians have always “gilded the lily.” But today’s politicians – particularly Democrats protected by the media – lie with shocking boldness.
Will that rapidly increasing ‘debt to the truth’ ever reach critical mass after which a political tsunami ensues, washing the entire scurrilous lot of lying politicians and their lying apologists out of our lives? And will the legacy media ever stop enabling the lying and start realizing that their very continued existence depends on finding a way to regain the trust of the American heartland?
There’s no way that Jill Biden didn’t know that the president was a cognitive mess. Any of us who have ever had a relative sink into the abyss of dementia – and most of us have – knew exactly what we were seeing.
We could see that the President of the United States was mentally unfit.
But all that time the administration, the media and the lefty pundit class were in unison. ‘Sharp as a tack,” they said. ‘Outrunning us all.’
They were all lying then. Jill Biden is lying now.
And the debt to the truth remains unpaid – while interest accrues.

I’m okay with that. If Joe Biden’s legacy is similar to Grant’s all the better. Most people couldn’t name two accomplishments of the Grant presidency, but they have a visceral reaction to the rampant corruption it tolerated, and now a stench is attached to everything he did whether it’s deserved or not. A hundred years from now, nobody will care about Jill, but Joe’s name with be mud.
Had I treated my wife that way ,I would have been arrested . And I would have deserved it
Anyone that can’t see what is happening in our government today isn’t looking. History repeats itself, and this very thing has happened in America before. The leaders went off the rails and the voters responded, sometimes changing political parties. The Democrats thirst for power knows NO bounds. Chuck Schumer told us exactly that. It doesn’t matter WHO they choose to run, they simply have to win. They struggle so hard to protect democracy by demanding voters reject the other party entirely. The candidates they offer today are the absolute worst. Extremists views have no place in positions of power. The recent fallout over the entertainers for the Freedom 250 celebration canceling their performance only shows how divided the country is right now. Violence and protests are being normalized. Tolerance for insane behavior is being required, while expectations for normal behavior are being demonized. More and more people are choosing a side to stand behind, and being more public about it. Presidential administrations are often graded differently over time, and Biden’s will be no different. We will eventually see how horrible this cycle of political culture was for the country. Where we go from here is anyone’s guess. Joe Biden will absolutely be considered among the worst presidents. If not number one, at least top 3. I predict Trump to be on the other end of the spectrum.
Jill biden only saw what she wanted to see and IF she could, would have kept that pitiful old man in the Whitehouse along with the AUTOPEN!!!
As usual, spot on analysis.
How many of the Seven Deadly Sins has Dr. Jill committed. I guess the Biden’s are trying to replace the Clinton’s as pure Fungi Infections. If not treated, spreads rapidly, and can kill you. Hard as heck to get rid of, many times popping up in other places worse than the original infection. Sad.
It looks like all the “Biden crime family” was pardoned: President’s family/relatives received large international contributions, auto-pen, etc. In summary: CRIME PAYS.
Guess if Jill Biden were to be honest, her favorite first lady in history would be Edith Wilson. Jill tried to keep her husband’s condition from the public, but unlike Edith Wilson, she was unable to do so because today we have Fox News, Breitbart and other sources that provide us with pictures that we can see reality with our own two eyes and when a president is missing in action, we do have “some, not many” reporters who do ask “real” questions. Can anyone imagine if Biden had been a republican? He would have been gone the second he opened the flood gates to illegals into our country. Can anyone imagine if Graham Platner was a republican? Although I’m not a fan of the way John Fetterman dresses, his honesty is refreshing, wish there were more on the left like him
