For Dems the hour grows late.

President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky speak to the media after their bilateral meeting in New York City.

Last month a Harvard/Harris poll of over 2,300 registered voters sought to gauge public opinion in a somewhat different way. It attempted to measure support for Donald Trump and a Democratic opponent without mentioning names.

The question was worded like this:

Which candidate are you more likely to vote for:

A presidential candidate who stands for the green new deal on climate change, Medicare for all, free college tuition, opening our borders to many more immigrants and raising taxes to pay for these programs.

Or …

A presidential candidate who stands for lower taxes and reduced government regulations, strengthening our military, strengthening our border to reduce illegal immigrants, standing up more to China and Iran and seeking better trade deals for the US?

You couldn’t if you tried construct a more economically-worded, more accurate description of the policies promoted by the slate of Democratic presidential candidates and the policies promoted by Donald Trump.

So, absent names, what do voters prefer?

By a whopping 61 percent, they prefer the Trump agenda. Among independents – often considered to be decisive in presidential elections – it’s two out of three. Even a third of Democrats in this poll prefer Trump policy. The lesson: hating Trump is the only thing Democrats have.

Dems cannot win on policy. So they dare not tell the truth. They dare not offer any specifics as to how universal health care and free college for everyone will be paid for. To the extent that they understand that “raising taxes on the rich” will fall grossly short, they cannot say so.

They will never explain – to the extent that they have the requisite understanding – the economic devastation attendant to ending the use of fossil fuels.

At some level Democrats know that when properly understood by the electorate, their programs are dead at the ballot box. They also understand that an incumbent president presiding over a robust, full-employment economy will be hard to beat. Thus, the desperate quest for other measures.

So far, those measures have fallen short. The Mueller Report on Russian “collusion” – sure in the minds of Democrats to lead to Trump’s removal from office – was a dud. Every breathless “bombshell” revelation in the media about this or that Trump utterance has fizzled.

All of which leads Democrats and their media handmaidens to a whistle-blower’s (read: “leaker’s”) account of a political quid pro quo attempt during a phone call between President Trump and the newly elected president of Ukraine. Before even knowing what was actually said on the call (of which the “whistleblower” has no firsthand knowledge), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave in to the far-left wing of her caucus and opened an impeachment inquiry.

The subsequent release of the summary transcript of that phone call – and the Ukranian president’s unequivocal statement that he felt no quid pro quo pressure from President Trump – renders flimsy any evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Flimsy or not, the Dems are going with it. Because the hour grows late. And it’s all they have.

You would be BOLD (and fearless) also if you had 98% of the largest (hate Trump) propaganda machine in the World to spin Trump into a lawless, incompetent creep 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and be faced with a bunch of spineless Republicans that are scared of their shadows, too weak to battle the vicious lying Democrats, Media, and Progressive (Deep State) bureaucrats that run Washington and that are determined to keep their POWER AT ALL COSTS.

I did something radical before reaching a conclusion about the phone call in question. I read the transcript. Based on that, I don’t think Trump did anything wrong. He asked the president of Ukraine to look at the entire story surrounding investigations of corruption and scandal, including those involving Joe and Hunter Biden, which occurred coincidentally while Biden was VP. Joe is proudly on record as having withheld money in lieu of cooperation by Ukraine in stopping the investigation of a gas company, at which hunter was a board member. Some question why Trump included Giuliani and Barr in his circle. With all the “whistleblowers”, alarmists, impeachers, leakers and straight-up LIARS roaming the halls, trust is a rare commodity. Since it IS the duty of the president to faithfully execute the laws of the land he would need to know the truth about biden, hunter, burisma and skolkin. But the truth may be the last thing the democrats want to come out. It may turn out bad for Joe Biden. And Hillary Clinton. And Barack Obama. Nixon-Mcgovern may be a nail biter compared to 2020.

  3. “Absent names,” you note.

Here’s another poll, from trusty Fox News, WITH names:

Yes Paul, the desperation of the Democrats is becoming more obvious with the latest plot to remove Trump, or at least damage his prospects in the 2020 election. Solomon is correct in his reasoning for the “bold” attempt to accuse Trump in order to inoculate Biden. This “courage” is gained by depending on the swamp to have your back, no matter how inane the tactic. In addition to all the benefits that our country has accrued under the Trump administration, revealing the enormous influence of the deep state has been very instructive to me. I never realized how close we are to losing our Republic. These career bureaucrats have a strong vested interest in making sure a big government candidate is in office. You might say that it is a “kitchen table” issue for them, and they cannot allow any derailing of the “gravy train”. Finally, if you would like to understand the Socialist game plan to “fundamentally” transform the United States, as President Obama promised, just read “Rules for Radicals” by Saul Alinsky. He was the mentor of some of our highest profile Democrats, and his rules are being faithfully followed. Conservatives need to accept the fact that these swamp creatures will not go away; they are in this battle for the long haul, and will not let ethical or legal barriers get in their way.

  5. Question, for Paul and all here: Is Giuliani HELPING or HURTING the president?

  6. C M Solomon says:

I’m getting scared now! The CIA “whistler blower rules” were conveniently changed to allow a “hearsay (second hand) witness to implicate the President with fake evidence having NO DIRECT KNOWLEDGE of the “suggested violation” of the Law. Previously, a “whistler blower” had to have DIRECT PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE of a possible violation of the Law and be able to defend their opinion with credibility to obtain personal PROTECTION according to the rules. This means that our CIA and Justice Departments have been infiltrated with saboteurs (trusted with incredible surveillance tools) that are determined to take the Law into their own hands to destroy this President using every political and media tool to spin a lie and overturn a valid election that they WILL NOT ACCEPT and hide the truth from the American people.

In summary, the Democrat Mob Syndicate has declared War on our Republic in order to drive President Trump from office no matter the cost to the Nation and our reputation as the greatest super power and beacon of Freedom in the World. Damn their despicable debauchery and their illegal methods to smear the President and turn us into a tinhorn dictatorship as ruled by the malevolent media, the politically corrupt Socialists/Marxists (Democrats) in power and the Federal bureaucracy that rules Washington with impunity.

Absolutely NOTHING in the mass (hysterical) media is worth considering. It is ALL a cleverly planned assault on the Nation and will continue to be replayed with a new LIE when the last one fails. Are we going to survive as a free Nation when the BIG LIE saturates everything the Left has penetrated such as K-12, College, Media, Internet, Government (at all levels), and now those sworn to protect us from Foreign and Domestic enemies?

The President should immediately take over the rogue elements in these agencies in the Executive Department and use OUR surveillance tools to expose these rats that are spreading this plague in our Nation and fire as many as necessary and terminate those “deep state” agencies that he can’t trust. We, as a free Nation, don’t have much time left.

  7. Ron Eagleman says:

Well said Solomon! These career bureaucrats are wallowing in the swamp with the former president and vice president. Civil service and other holdover employees are fellow travelers with the Democrats in pursuit of bigger and more corrupt government. When there are trillions of dollars in the D.C. cookie jar, these scoundrels want to protect their seat at the table. Does one ever wonder why these politicians go into office with only marginal talents, except the gift of gab and obfuscation, but come out with a fortune for themselves and their family? How does a community organizer in Chicago accumulate such wealth in 8 years to be able to own a multi-million dollar estate on the coast, which will be under water in 10 years? To be fair, there are also some very slimy Republican swamp creatures.
At least our president earned his wealth through the private sector, and does not even accept a salary; therefore, one might conclude that his motivation is other than greed. With the complicity of all of the institutions that were listed in your post, we should all be scared, but fear can be a great motivator. Let us hope an pray that it is not too late, and those of us who still love this wonderful country will be energized to do everything we can to make sure that this Democrat mob syndicate does not gain power in the 2020 elections. Would it be too much to wish that they will also lose their control of the House of Representatives?
