Cancer in the classroom.

If anything good came from the COVID pandemic, it’s that parents across the country got a window into what their children are being taught in public school. “Zoom school,” as a lot of us called it, allowed parents to see firsthand and in real time what is being taught in classrooms. In many cases, it is appalling.

When you and I were kids our teachers told us that America is a great country. We were told that our country was born on July 4, 1776 – the day that the American colonists declared that the only just government is government by consent of the governed. In my own case, Mr. Hanscom asked us to consider the last sentence of the Declaration of Independence, which reads,

And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”

Mr. Hanscom asked us, “After life, fortune and honor, what else is left?”

No teacher that I had ever took the position that America was or is perfect. Our curriculum certainly opened our young eyes to the horror and abject immorality of slavery.

But on balance (the key word being “balance”), we were taught to love our country. The similarly taught generations of Americans that preceded us can be credited with lifting more people out of poverty and freeing more people from bondage than any other society in all of history.

It is sad to say but nevertheless true that in too many schools today, love of country is no longer taught. In place of American patriotism children starting in elementary school are immersed in “critical race theory.” Critical race theory is a cancer that left unchecked will metastasize and kill our wonderful nation.

Critical race theory teaches white children that they are guilty of original sin simply for being born white while simultaneously teaching black children that because of “white supremacy,” they don’t have a chance. Proponents of CRT to a person revere Martin Luther King while seeing no irony at all in the fact that their corrosive doctrine stands squarely at odds with words he so famously spoke:

I have a dream. That my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today!”

Critical race theory is a hateful, divisive, cynical doctrine that is the very embodiment of evil. It must be yanked out of school curricula root and branch. Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana, who is an American treasure, in trademark fashion recently eviscerated critical race theory. He said,

America is not a racist country. We have racists in it, just like everywhere else. But most Americans, black and white, think a whole lot more about character than they do about race. They believe in equality and most Americans understand that to a bear, we all taste like chicken.”

Let me ask you. How much more clearly could it be said?

Yes, CRT, just like a diseased tree, must be uprooted and cast into the fire like a blighted fruit tree before its sickness can spread and do great damage to the healthy trees of an orchard.

I was taught as a child, and since my many years as an adult, know without any doubt, that The United States of America, is, without question, the greatest of all nations! I couldn’t be more proud to be an AMERICAN (and always have been!), for ours is a land like no other, where anyone can start a small enterprise under our Capitalist system, and prosper themselves, their family, their employees, and the country in general.

NO other nation can match the opportunity available to ALL who call The U.S.A. home. In a word, FREEDOM.. that is what men and women who established this Republic on July 4, 1776, two-hundred-forty-five years ago, were all about, and doing so in LIBERTY under GOD, with goodwill, among nations.

CRT -Critical Race Theory- is ROTTEN and EVIL to the core!! and that alone should be enough for every mother and every father to call for its immediate expulsion from our schools, our universities, and our military.

God Bless America, and Let Freedom Ring!

The democrats have succeeded in taking control over most of the basic institutions of the country in their pursuit of power. However, many empires in history have faced similar crossroads and have failed. If you were to ask any of these “reformers” to name a better country to model this one after they couldn’t. We live in the greatest country in history because of men like Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, etc. and the values they supported. We are beginning to see a response from across the country to the radical ideas being pushed on us in school, work, social media, government and healthcare. This is NOT the America the left would have us believe, and we wouldn’t be where we are if it were! We have to stop the progress they have made trying to take control.

Is love of country taught ? You just do it because someone tells you you should .Or would it be something that would develop over time out of the classroom . Loving you’re country and not loving much of what goes on in it are two different things,I think that is conveniently twisted together like many things to manipulate people’s minds ( Propaganda) as usual. This whole CRT thing is the latest thing blown up,it to will fade away as soon as folks come up with something else.Senator Kennedy a national treasure ? Yea that was genius to say country not racist but has racist people, can’t say that’s wrong exactly, I think people know what’s meant when many say ” racist country” and he knows as well, real smart guy. I bet he’s a treasure to petroleum and chemical companies etc in his state , one of the poorest in the union despite all that industry, funny how that works out.

Those of us that believe that The United States of America is a great country have a job to do supporting and protecting her. Mr. Paul Gleiser also has a job to do and that is keeping us together and headed in the right direction. The Left’s plan is to confuse and divide our country so they can destroy and then rebuild the rubble into the country they desire. Thank you.

Mr. Hanscom was exactly right, there is nothing after life, fortune, and honor! These are the stakes that our founding fathers laid on the table; they knew that their lives and fortune could be taken, but not their honor. How shameful that the ones who are now career politicians are only concerned about their fortunes, and not their honor! Paul, you are exactly right about the “Zoom School”; there is a chance that it opened parents’ eyes to the indoctrination of their children by our public schools. Of course, the teachers’ unions will fight fiercely to make sure that there is no transparency in the classrooms via video cameras or other recordings. Not only would these devices reveal the filth and leftist opinions that some of these teachers spew, but they would also expose their incompetence. Many of these “teachers”, cannot even conjugate simple verbs; how can you expect them to be “educators”? Mr. Hanscom would be repulsed at those who have taken over his honored profession!

It is time for audio and visual monitoring of classrooms — good enough for police, good enough for the teachers out to destroy the country .

    • Ron Eagleman says:

Yes Pete, and even my wife, a former teacher, agrees with you. If a widget fabricator was continually producing faulty widgets, there would be an investigation into the reason for the failure(s), and the problems would be quickly corrected. Our public schools are graduating our most precious assets (our children) who cannot read or write, but hate their country; however, the ones overseeing the process are never held responsible. In keeping with the cancer analogy, this malignancy must be excised before it metastasizes further, and is inoperable.

Have two middle school nephews in Ft. Myers, Florida school system. Last year one of their teachers told the whole class they, the children were all Democrats. Both boys came home and announced to their grandmother, “We are Democrats.” One soon learned that was not a great group to be labeled with. The other, who is autistic, bears that label proudly today. Cancer in our schools, you bet!!!!

  9. Matthew E says:

Where are the parents responsibility and a schools ( teacher ) responsibility begin and end, schools aren’t there to raise children. I’m not sure where all these American hating young people are but many I’m sure hate much of what happens here, and feel it could be much better, all things considered. They may just be perplexed a little when people praise our country as some do while all the negative things are happening all around them, especially when they realize honesty and integrity are for children, not adults. It’s a daily observation more than ever for those that pay attention.
